UPCOMING EVENING COURSES at CFCP Dublin 2

There are two evening courses coming up in Dublin 2, at The CENTRE FOR CREATIVE PRACTICES
starting on Monday 11th of February!

The first course is a Professional Development Programme for Artists and Crafts People - specifically designed for people involved in creative practices and industries.



PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COURSE for Artists - 11th, 18th, 25th February, 5 - 6.30 pm 
“Artists as Educators:
Planning and Delivering Arts Education Programmes for Children”
Facilitator: Tunde Toth – Visual Arts Practitioner and Educator

Aim and objective of the workshop:
To provide practical and useful information, guidelines and advice to artists and crafts people in the planning and delivering of art educational programmes for primary school age children in various settings. This workshop is particularly aimed for creative practitioners who are at the beginning of their careers as educators or facilitators. 
The programme offers practical help and advice on all the "how to" and also covers: 
  • Source and development of workshop and project ideas
  • Guidelines: best practice, child protection training and policy, insurance
  • Getting involved in projects and programmes that are already in place in various education settings, arts organizations, venues and events in Ireland
  • Visual Arts Curriculum – Primary Schools
  • Promotion, administration, relevant time management
  • Documentation, evaluation


    EVENING COURSE on SILK FIBRE PAPERMAKING -11th, 18th, 25th February, 7 - 8.30pm
    Tutor:  Tunde Toth – Visual Arts Practitioner

    This course introduces two techniques used in contemporary Silk Fibre Papermaking and the last workshop includes a slideshow presentation on contemporary paper arts.

    Using a variety of natural materials – raw silk fibres, cocoon strippings, hand dyed silk tops, throwsters fibres, silk threads...etc – participants will create plain or colourful, textured, decorative, ``fabric – like`` papers.
    These unique pieces are suitable for writing, painting, printmaking (dry point and carborundum works well, with unusual textures) textile art- and collage works, stitching, embroidery and are ideal for 3 dimensional, sculptural projects and installations.
    The course also offers an insight into experimental processes, decorating methods and ideas using fibre reactive textile dyes on silk papers.

    This course is suitable for beginners and participants with some previous experience in papermaking, fibre- and paper arts.


    FEES: € 110 / € 95 (con.) per participant for the 3 sessions of each course, INCLUDING all materials and printouts

    ART WORKSHOPS - FEBRUARY 2013

    Dear Everyone,

    Hope you all had a great start to the New Year - Wishing you a Happy, Healthy and very CREATIVE 2013!!


    Here is a chance to get inspired and start making and creating beautiful things while learning a new skill: I will be teaching two workshops on PAPERMAKING TECHNIQUES in Inistioge, Co. Kilkenny:

    24th FEBRUARY 2013 (SUNDAY)

    10.30am -1pm  HAND PAPERMAKING from pure plant fibres and recycled materials
    Introduction to traditional and contemporary techniques
    Make your own beautiful, textured, decorated handmade paper!

    2 - 5pm  SILK FIBRE PAPERMAKING using raw silk fibres, fabric dyes and a variety of decorative material to create striking silk papers, interior decorations, cards, small pictures! A truly fascinating, contemporary process.

    Participants will complete a number of pieces at each workshop while learning all basic steps and processes necessary to continue at home.

    VENUE: workshops will take place in the function room of the new Community Hall in the middle of the picturesque village INISTIOGE, Co. KILKENNY

    Please note: These workshops are designed for small groups - places are limited but in case of increased number of bookings times for each course may be extended. Please book early to avoid dissapointment!

    FEES: each workshop costs € 35  per participant, including ALL materials used
    DISCOUNT for those participating in both workshops: € 60 for the full day, including ALL materials

    Both workshops are suitable for beginners or those with some previous experience, for adults and young people from 14 years of age.
