PAPERMAKING WEEKEND on 14th - 15th JULY 2012

A weekend programme of workshops to introduce you to traditional, contemporary and experimental techniques used in Hand Papermaking!
You can choose to take part in one of the workshops or the full two day programme:

Saturday 10am - 5pm: HAND PAPERMAKING - using pure plant fibres and recycled materials. Introducing basic, traditional and contemporary techniques used in papermaking. Participants will create a variety of textured, decorated or plain, unique handmade papers using pulps prepared from cotton, daphne and abaca fibres combined with especially selected re-used paper material.

Saturday 5.30pm: Slideshow presentation and talk on Contemporary Paper Art Practices and the 20th IAPMA Congress in Tasmania, Australia.

Sunday10am - 5pm: SILK FIBRE PAPERMAKING - this workshop introduces two different contemporary techniques of Silk Fibre Papermaking - using a variety of raw, undyed and dyed, pure silk fibres, threads, silk tops etc. A truly fascinating process, resulting in textured, striking 'fabric-like' silk papers and sculptural pieces!

Venue: The Studio, Bennettsbridge, Co. Kilkenny, Ireland

Both workshops are suitable for beginners as well as for those with some previous experience in papermaking.
Fees include all materials: € 75 per day or € 135 for the two days
