BATIK for Beginners 10.30am – 5pm 
Introducing traditional and contemporary processes of an ancient fabric dyeing technique where hot wax is applied to a cloth to act as a resist.

The WORKSHOP PROGRAMME at KOZO Studio continues – designed and facilitated for small groups of participants at KOZO Studio in The Estate Yard, Castlecomer Discovery Park, Co. Kilkenny.



KOZO ART CLUB is BACK for children!!

Starting on Tuesday, 15th September at KOZO Studio and Gallery.

·  This is a professional arts programme, run for small groups in a safe, non-competitive environment 
·  Facilitated by Tunde Toth, visual artist, arts educator and experienced art teacher.
·  Participating children will have their own exhibition at KOZO Studio before Christmas.
·  After school, every Tuesday, 3.30 - 5pm, on every school week, until Christmas
·  starting on the 15th of September
·  for children 6 years and older

Bookings are now taken for the Autumn/Winter term - LIMITED PLACES are available:
once off registration €10 (to be paid before the start of the programme)
+ each workshop session € 12 (to be paid on arrival each week).
Fees include ALL art materials and an art notebook/sketchbook for each child.

EMBROIDERY WORKSHOPs - with ALEXIS BERNSTORFF, artistic director of the ROS TAPESTRY
12 September (Saturday) 10.30am – 5pm Beginners
This workshop will teach 6 principal stitches and their variations - using wool, cotton/silk and metallic threads. Participants will be inspired by a range of techniques to realise various designs. Alexis has 15 years experience teaching crewelwork embroidery and is the guide behind the dynamics of the Ros Tapestry. 
€ 70 for the full day - including all materials

10.30am - 1.30pm HAND PAPER MAKING - Introduction to traditional and contemporary techniques of making beautiful handmade papers from pure plant fibres and a range of recycled materials.
2.30 - 5.30pm SILK FIBRE PAPERMAKING - A truly fascinating, contemporary technique for making `fabric-like`, colourful silk papers using raw silk fibres and fabric dyes. Easy to continue and set up at home, this process is ideal to create unique interior decorations and striking silk papers for artworks, embroidery, collages ...etc.
Fees for each workshop: € 35
OR: € 65 for the full day - including all materials


PAPER ART and HAND PAPER MAKING - FOLLOW-ON ADVANCED LEVEL COURSE 
Only for participants with previous experience.
20th September (Sunday)
10.30am - 5.30pm
Designed for participants who already work with paper/fibre based processes, this course offers assistance and guidance in areas of three dimensional, sculptural and installation based works, experimental processes of batik, paper dyeing and texturing. It also covers ideas for the preparation and use of plant based pulps (without added chemicals). Participants are encouraged to bring their own ideas and questions into the workshop and invited to show and discuss previous works and projects. The day also includes a short slideshow presentation on examples of contemporary paper art and paper making.
Places are limited for 5 participants.
€ 80 for the full day, including all materials

PAPERMAKING DAY - 6 JULY - reminder of upcoming programme

Dear Everyone,

This post is a reminder of our upcoming workshops on the 6th of July in Inistioge, Co. Kilkenny, Ireland

as the Summer is promising to be very busy with exhibitions (invitations and info to follow) the PAPERMAKING DAY on the 6th of July is the only FULL DAY WORKSHOP scheduled for this season.

The workshop programme will resume in late September/early October 2014.



6th JULY (Sunday): PAPERMAKING DAY

10am - 1pm: HAND PAPERMAKING – beginners and/or some experience
Introducing traditional and contemporary techniques of making beautiful textured and decorated handmade papers from pure plant fibres and recycled materials. The course covers all necessary basics  to be able to continue papermaking at home. 
Participants will make unique, plain or decorated, textured handmade papers (5/7 pieces).


2.30 – 5.30pm: SILK FIBRE PAPERMAKING – beginners and/or some experience
This workshop introduces contemporary techniques used in silk papermaking using a variety of raw silk fibres combined with plant fibres and dyes; creating unique, colourful, striking silk papers ideal for many projects: collage works, decorations, textile art processes and sculptural/installation projects.

Fee: € 35 per workshop OR € 65 for the full day – INCLUDING all materials

PAPER ART COURSE this Sunday - Inistioge, Co. Kilkenny, Ireland

WORKSHOP DETAILS:

ADVANCED LEVEL PAPER ART and HAND PAPER MAKING Course - for participants with previous experience in papermaking processes

The workshop space will be set up with `work - stations` for the following techniques and processes:
  • HAND PAPER MAKING - 2 different pulps prepared: recycled materials with LOKTA linters; recycled mixed with LAVENDER pulp
  • HAND PAPER MAKING with a focus on three dimensional, sculptural work and textured surfaces
  • SILK FIBRE PAPER MAKING - with a focus on three dimensional, sculptural and installation work - including using CMC Paste
  • Fibres and various inclusions 
  • WAX and BATIK processes on various papers
  • Fibre reactive dyes

 This is a full day course n BATIK: introducing a traditional, ancient technique of dyeing and decorating fabrics
using hot wax as a resist and fabric dyes. Covering various techniques and some contemporary processes this workshop offers an overview and an insight into this fascinating art form.
Fee: € 70 for the full day workshop – INCLUDING all materials

offering two different papermaking workshops for beginners and participants with a little previous experience. Please read on for details and share with those interested.

2nd MARCH (Sunday)

10am - 1pm: HAND PAPERMAKING – beginners and/or some experience

Introducing traditional and contemporary techniques of making beautiful textured and decorated handmade papers from pure plant fibres and recycled materials. The course covers all necessary basics  to be able to continue papermaking at home – suitable materials, equipment, `ingredients`, pulp preparation, drying techniques, incorporating dried plants, herbs etc. Participants will make unique, plain or decorated, textured handmade papers (5/7 pieces).
2.30 – 5.30pm: SILK FIBRE PAPERMAKING – beginners
This workshop introduces contemporary techniques used in silk papermaking using a variety of raw silk fibres combined with plant fibres and dyes; creating unique, colourful, striking silk papers ideal for many projects: collage works, decorations, textile art processes and sculptural/installation projects.
Fee: € 35 per workshop OR € 65 for the full day – INCLUDING all materials



9th MARCH (Sunday)
10.30am - 5pm: BATIK – beginners and/or some experience

23rd MARCH (Sunday)10.30am – 5.30pm: PAPER ART and HAND PAPERMAKING – ADVANCED level course

 This is a full day course with an experimental approach; designed for participants with experience in Hand Papermaking and for those who took part in previous papermaking workshops. The programme is tailored to the interests and preferences of those attending, offering skills and professional guidance in the following areas:
·         Sculptural/three dimensional/installation based work – and relevant preparation and drying processes
·         Batik (incl. various wax applications) on handmade fibre papers
·         Silk Fibre Paper projects
·         Paper dyeing/decorating
·         Handmade papers from mixed plant pulps – without using chemicals
·         Large scale papermaking – strengthening – paper sizing
·         Hand papermaking in various educational settings
PLEASE NOTE that this course has limited places available.
Fee: € 75 for the full day – INCLUDING all materials

Workshop Fees are reasonably calculated to suit all budgets and
INCLUDE:  ALL ART MATERIALS, the use of all tools and equipment, refreshments at the studio
