Next Papermaking Weekend - October 2009!

Dear Friends, Readers, Followers...
Following our great weekend in August (see the previous post below) we are organizing a similar Workshop Programme on Hand Papermaking Techniques for the 17th and 18th of October at The Studio, Bennettsbridge, Co. Kilkenny.

I hope many of you can join us!

17th Oct (Sat): Hand Papermaking - from collected, reused materials and natural fibres of cotton, flax, esparto grass and abaca.
18th Oct (Sun): Silk Fibre Paper Making - using a variety of raw silk fibres, introducing 2 different techniques and processes for 3D work.

These workshops are suitable for beginners as well as those of you who have previous experiences in papermaking techniques and mediums. Participants will be introduced to traditional and contemporary methods, with a focus on textures, fibres as raw materials and experimental processes...

ART WORKS and MATERIALS DISPLAY

A great selection of natural fibres, handmade paper samples, paper and fibre art works will be on display at the Studio as well as basic materials and starter packs will be available for sale at special discounted prices to allow everyone to get started and maybe even make those unusual Christmas surprises!
This weekend programme also incudes a talk and slide show on my visit to Tasmania, where I participated in the 20th IAPMA Congress. This is also a great opportunity to view some unusual handmade papers I brought over from Australia.

Fees: € 85 per workshop, including all art materials (fibres, dyes...etc) used and refreshments provided at the studio.
Or: € 150 for the full weekend (2 workshops)
